How to choose from various electric wheelchairs

As a means of transportation for the elderly or disabled, electric wheelchairs are in increasing demand and there are more and more categories to choose from. There are dozens of domestic and domestic brands and hundreds of styles. How to choose? Woolen cloth? The electric wheelchair manufacturer has summarized a few points based on several years of industry experience, hoping to help you.
There are four major parts of an electric wheelchair: drive system – motor, control system – controller, power system – battery, skeleton system – frame and wheels.

electric wheelchair

At present, there are three types of electric wheelchair drives: gear motors, crawler motors and hub motors. Gear motors are powerful and can stop on slopes, but the cost is high and the vehicle is heavy. The power of the crawler motor is too small, and the track will loosen over time. In-wheel motors are low in cost and light in weight, but their power is weak, they cannot stop when stationary on a slope, they will slide backwards, and their safety is poor. The overall advantage is that the power consumption is low, and the same battery hub motor has a much longer battery life. Generally speaking, it is recommended to choose an electric wheelchair with a gear motor.

The frame is about the material and design, whether it is a fixed design or a folding design, this varies from person to person. If you prefer to carry it, consider ultra-light materials and easy folding. If you consider stability and do not need to fold it, choose one with a fixed frame and rigid structure, because it is strong and durable.
Wheels are mainly for flexibility and shock absorption. Pneumatic tires have good shock absorption and are easier to pass through small steps (generally less than 5 cm). Solid tires will slip when encountering small steps. With shock absorbers, it won’t be too bumpy when going over ditches and bumps. Generally there are four wheels, the two front wheels are universal wheels and the two rear wheels are drive wheels. The smaller the front wheel, the more flexible it is, but it will easily sink into a ditch or ground crack. If the front wheel is thicker than 18 inches, it will be fine.

You must also think rationally when choosing an electric wheelchair. You should not think that lighter is better. In fact, there are not many opportunities to actually use it to move it. Nowadays, it is barrier-free. Instead, you should consider the performance and failure rate of the wheelchair more.
